Joe Meyer brings a wealth of diverse experience from working with Small and Middle Market businesses in diverse industries, Private Equity and Venture Capital firms, REITS, Family Offices, Public Companies, Cooperatives, Government Entities, Tribal Enterprises, and Institutional Investors. He has spent the last 10 years working in Commercial and Business Banking at JP Morgan Chase.

Previously, Joe owned and operated St. Cloud Mortgage, Inc – a well-known and respected Commercial and Agricultural Lender which focused on Bank Portfolio Assets and complex Government Guaranteed Financing (e.g. SBA, FSA, USDA, Farm-Credit, FNMA, FHA) and Investment Real Estate Lending.

Joe is an experienced Finance Professional with in-depth knowledge of Portfolio Management, Commercial/ Agricultural Credit, Treasury Management, KYC Compliance, New Territory Development, Wholesale Lending, Agile Corporate Project Management, and Operational and Organizational structures.

Personal and Education

A California native, U.S. Navy Veteran and former Criminal Sheriff’s Deputy (Orleans Parish, Louisiana); Joe holds a B.S. in Finance, B.B.A. in International Business, and a B.A in English from the University of Hawaii and an A.A. from St. Cloud State.

He has studied in both Asia and Latin America. He is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) with an advanced Audit Designation.

Career Management

During the financial crisis, Joe went to work for a National Bank expanding to California. He focusing on New Territory Development for the Bank’s Business Banking Program. Joe grew and managed regional portfolios of Small to Medium sized businesses that he assisted in optimizing cash flows, implement cash management efficiencies, access and manage credit and debt, navigate domestic and international financial transactions, and to detect and deter fraud.

For the last five years, Joe has worked in Client Risk Management; working to uplift the Bank’s KYC program in accordance with a Regulatory Consent Order and subject to close regulatory supervision and audit. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the Western US, Joe supported and trained junior staff and conducted due diligence to understand, assess, and document broad based risks and mitigation strategies. He opined on client acceptance and retention decisions, and developed ongoing relationship management plans for Middle-Market clients in higher risk industries, complex operational structures, multi-jurisdictional (international) banking clients, and/or subject to enhance regulatory scrutiny.

Joe worked directly with clients to understand their operational and organizational structures, fund movements, client selection and validation processes, internal/external controls, regulatory compliance programs, management and ownership teams, marketing and sales practices, and reputational concerns.

Joe was also extensively involved in Bank’s KYC department’s agile corporate development program, completing the bank’s Project Management Professional Development Program.
